Job Description
Responsibilities: Inspect, verify, and document all construction materials delivered to the site Ensure materials comply with approved specifications, standards, and project requirements Monitor material handling, storage, and preservation on-site to prevent damage or deterioration Review material submittals, certificates, and test reports submitted by contractors Conduct sampling and testing of materials (e.g., concrete, asphalt, aggregates, steel) in coordination with the laboratory Report non-compliance or defective materials and coordinate corrective actions with contractors Maintain an organized record of inspections, approvals, and material certificates Ensure proper labeling, tagging, and tracking of materials used in the project Coordinate with design, planning, and site teams to resolve material-related issues Support quality assurance and control procedures for the project Prepare and submit daily/weekly material inspection reports to PMC management Participate in client inspections and audits regarding material compliance Verify contractors follow proper testing, mixing, and handling procedures Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards during material handling Assist in preparation of as-built material documentation for project closeout Provide guidance to junior material inspectors and site staff Liaise with vendors and suppliers for technical clarifications on materials Review and verify calibration and certification of testing equipment Essential Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related field Minimum 7 years of experience as a Material Inspector, preferably on road and infrastructure projects Prior experience with PMC, consultancy, or large-scale construction projects is highly preferred Strong knowledge of construction materials, standards, and testing procedures Familiarity with project specifications, QA/QC procedures, and reporting requirements Excellent report writing, documentation, and communication skills Ability to work independently on-site and in a multi-disciplinary team
