Infection Control Nurse

The Infection Control Nurse plays a vital role in ensuring patient safety and minimizing healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) within the hospital environment. This position involves a range of responsibilities, including surveillance, reporting, and analysis of infection risks, as well as contributing to the overall safety and well-being of patients and staff.

• Surveillance and Reporting: Conduct regular surveillance for HAIs across all hospital areas, identifying trends, and generating comprehensive statistics and reports. Recommend corrective actions when necessary to address any identified issues.
• Investigation and Outbreak Management: Investigate unacceptably high infection rates or outbreaks, collaborating with relevant teams to determine the cause and implement appropriate measures.
• Data Collection and Analysis: Participate in data collection, interpret results, and generate reports as required.
• Health Education: Promote health education among patients, visitors, and staff, fostering a culture of infection prevention.
• Patient and Family Education: Provide advice and education to patients and their families regarding infection control practices, empowering them to actively participate in their care.
• Staff Education and Training: Educate and train hospital staff on infection prevention and control measures, ensuring they are competent in implementing standard precautions, hand hygiene, and transmission-based isolation.
• Policy Development and Implementation: Develop and implement infection control policies and procedures in line with international, national, and local standards. Monitor staff compliance and provide guidance as needed.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the Infection Control Team, Employee Health Clinic Team, and other relevant departments to ensure a cohesive approach to infection control.

• Education: A Baccalaureate degree in Nursing, Epidemiology, Public Health, or a related field is essential.
• Registration: Appropriate qualification and statutory nursing registration in the country of recruitment.
• Experience: Three years of post-basic experience, with at least two years in a relevant specialty, is required. Previous experience in Middle Eastern healthcare is highly desirable.
• Infection Control Expertise: Qualified in Infection Control (CIC or equivalent) or completion of a minimum one-year training program in infection control.
• Language Skills: Proficiency in the English language is essential for effective communication.
