JOB TITLE: Research Engineer/ Scientist Industrial Design ORG UNIT NAME: Specialties SBU - T&I – Global Application Technology LOCATION (CITY/COUNTRY): Bengaluru, India JOB PURPOSE We’re looking for a creative problem-solver who thrives at the intersection of design and technology . At SABIC Specialties, you’ll shape the future of applications across mobility, electronics, healthcare, infrastructure, and industrial markets - turning specialty materials into breakthrough products. This isn’t just about designing objects. It’s about imagining possibilities , visualizing concepts , and building prototypes that inspire customers and set new standards in industrial design. Job Responsibilities Lead design innovation: Spot opportunities in key industries and translate them into compelling concepts to influence customers. Visual storytelling: Sketch, render, and model ideas that communicate vision instantly to stakeholders. Prototype creation: Build and test tangible solutions that prove the power of SABIC materials using 3D printing / CNC machining. CMF exploration: Apply cutting-edge Color, Material, Finish trends to elevate plastics applications. Collaborative design: Work with internal designer, application engineers, marketers, and global teams to deliver holistic solutions. IP contribution: Shape proprietary designs and contribute to patents that protect innovation. MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS A master’s degree in industrial design or Product Design 3 - 6 years of experience in product development - from concept to commercialization. A strong portfolio showcasing industrial design projects, especially with thermoplastics. Expertise in sketching, rendering, and CAD (SolidWorks, CATIA, Photoshop, Keyshot, Blender). Experience in designing for automotive, electronics, healthcare, or infrastructure. Hands-on knowledge of prototyping technologies and manufacturing processes. Strong communication skills and the ability to translate technical ideas into market-ready solutions. Quest to learn, adopt new things and self-driven mindset is desired.
